MATTHEWS, N.C. — A man died Monday morning after he was hit by a car near Matthews, police said. The driver in the case has been charged.
It happened Monday around 8:15 a.m. on McKee Road at Hampstead Pond Lane in south Charlotte. The car stayed at the scene.

Paramedics said they took one person to a Charlotte hospital with life-threatening injuries. Around 10 a.m., the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department confirmed the victim had died. He was identified Wednesday as 75-year-old Mehmet Bagci.
The Matthews Police Department said McKee Road was closed in both directions while they investigated.

Police believe the driver, 41-year-old Olga Igorevna Dadalko, was making a left turn onto McKee Road when she didn’t stop for a stop sign. CMPD said she hit Bagci as he was crossing McKee Road.
Neither Dadalko or her passenger were hurt.
Dadalko will be charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle, investigators said.
