SALISBURY, N.C. — Salisbury police are asking for help identifying a person of interest in connection with a shooting Mar. 3 in the parking lot of a shopping center across from the Salisbury Walmart on South Arlington Street.
Police released photos of a person they believe has information about the shooting.
Someone at the Walmart called 911 shortly before 9 p.m. to tell police there was a shooting and that is when law enforcement swarmed in, Salisbury Police Chief Jerry Stokes said.
Police said at the scene they found a man with at least one gunshot wound. The man later died from his injuries.
Friday evening, police identified the victim as 35-year-old Michael Dwayne Connor Jr.
Stokes said police are viewing video from cameras around the parking lot of the plaza.
“Please call us so we can have this person accountable and find the victim some justice as well,” Stokes said.

Channel 9 spoke to someone who worked as a security guard for a business in the plaza. They said they didn’t hear the shooting when it initially occurred.
“Somebody came up the door saying ‘He’s dead, he’s dead,’” security guard Ricky Pate said.
Pate said he saw the crowd standing next to someone lying on the ground. He said he then called 911.
“It wasn’t long, police were here, and they were checking everything out,” Pate said.
He said there have been issues in this area before, but nothing like this.
Police said there is no one in custody and whoever is responsible left the area.
