CHARLOTTE — People continue to put themselves at risk by darting between cars to cross East Independence Boulevard.

For years, Channel 9 has investigated the need for more crosswalks for pedestrians.

"You have to pray, because people come past the red light,” Matthews resident David Matthews said. “You gotta dodge and what not. It's real crazy.”

>> In the video at the top of this webpage, local leaders and Channel 9’s Tina Terry are asking if the state plan includes anything to keep pedestrians safe.
