Woman hit, killed in north Charlotte, CMPD says

FILE - CMPD

CHARLOTTE — A woman was hit and killed in north Charlotte Monday morning, police said.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said it happened just before 6:50 a.m. in the 4500 block of Reagan Drive.

Responding officers said they found a woman, later identified as 48-year-old Petrina Ann Williams, laying on the ground.

Officers said they also found a white 2018 Ford Transit, with damage to the front of the car and windshield. The driver of the Ford, who remained at the scene of the crash, was identified as 20-year-old Eliceo Zunun Aguilar, police said.

MEDIC transported Williams to the hospital where she died later that morning.

Investigators said Aguilar was traveling west on Reagan Drive early Monday, heading towards North Graham Street, when he hit Williams as she crossed the road.

Police said it was dark and raining at the time of the crash, and Williams was wearing dark clothing. They don’t believe speed was a contributing factor, and detectives confirmed Aguilar was not impaired during the crash.

CMPD said this is an active investigation. Any witnesses to the crash, or anyone with information, should contact Detective Mercedes at 704-432-2169 or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
