Pedestrian hit, killed by car car along rural South Carolina highway, troopers say

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — South Carolina state troopers are investigating after they said a car hit and killed a pedestrian early Thursday in Chesterfield County.

The collision happened around 4:20 a.m. on S.C. Highway 9 near Janice Circle, one mile west of the town of Cheraw.

According to troopers, a pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, crossed into the path of a 2007 Honda sedan that was heading northbound.

The driver of the car was not hurt, and troopers have not said if any charges would be filed.
