CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a fatal collision early Friday in south Charlotte.
Officers were called just after 6:30 a.m. to reports of a serious crash involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Midway Park Drive and Walnut Branch Lane, just off Ardrey Kell Road near Providence Road.

The victim was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries but did not survive.
Police have not released their name or any other details surrounding the incident.
Channel 9 crews could see crime scene tape roping off the intersection and police surrounding a black SUV.
A school bus was also at the scene and Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District officials confirmed that it was one of their buses, but said it was not involved. CMS officials said the bus driver was a possible witness to the collision.
CMS said the victim that was hit was not a child, according to police.
