CHARLOTTE — South Boulevard between Remount Road and Atherton Street in Charlotte’s South End neighborhood was closed in both directions Monday morning after a car crashed into a utility pole the day before.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers were called out early Sunday after reports of a crash on South Boulevard near Mac’s Speed Shop.

When police arrived, they found a car had hit an AT&T utility pole before colliding with a nearby concrete wall, leaving the pole in the middle of the road, officials said.
The driver was not hurt but as of 5 a.m. Monday, repair crews had still not arrived to fix the pole.
Channel 9 crews on Monday could see barricades up blocking that portion of South Boulevard in both directions.
Officials have not said how long the road could be closed for.
