CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — Parents flooded into the Cabarrus County Board of Education meeting Monday night because they are worried their kids may be forced to attend another school due to overcrowding.
The board is considering moving students in certain neighborhoods from Cox Mill Elementary School to WR Odell primary or elementary schools.
“My analogy was it's a bit like rushing to treatment of a medical problem before you know it's wrong,” parent Jean Wanish said. “So, with all of the growth on the north side, we're facing problems that are probably beyond what the board can resolve.”
This is the second time the issue of overcrowding has up for Cox Mill.
Last year, parents were told school leaders would freeze enrollment until they found a better solution.
