Panthers' Thomas Davis awards 2 recent grads $10,000 scholarships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Just days before graduation, Carolina Panthers star linebacker Thomas Davis surprised two high school seniors with a gift that could change their lives.

Davis awarded two college scholarships worth $10,000 each to both students on Tuesday night.

Senior D.J. Thaxton graduated from North Mecklenburg High School and Jamarcus Scott graduated from York High School.

The young men both participated in a special leadership academy through Davis’ Defending Dreams foundation.
