CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Teddy Bridgewater is inactive for Sunday’s home game against the Detroit Lions, the Panthers announced. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported P.J. Walker is expected to start in his place.
Bridgewater came into Sunday as a game-time decision with a right knee injury he suffered late in last week’s loss to the Buccaneers.
PJ Walker will start for Carolina today vs. Detroit, per sources.

On Sunday, Bridgewater went through two on-field workouts pregame. Ultimately, the decision was made to hold him out.
The Panthers will also be missing two starters on the offensive line. Left tackle Russell Okung (calf) and right guard John Miller (knee/ankle) were both listed as doubtful.
A shoulder injury will keep running back Christian McCaffrey out for a second straight game, giving Mike Davis his eighth start of the season.
Defensively, cornerback Donte Jackson is out with turf toe, so fourth-round pick Troy Pride Jr. will start across from Rasul Douglas. Safety Sam Franklin will also miss the game with an ankle injury, likely putting Juston Burris back as a starter.
Here is the full list of Sunday’s inactives:
- QB Teddy Bridgewater
- RB Christian McCaffrey
- LT Russell Okung
