CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Just because it's the offseason, that didn't stop the NFL MVP from coming through in crunch time yet again.

Oprah Winfrey was in Charlotte this past weekend to deliver the commencement speech at Johnson C. Smith University. But as she prepared, her longtime partner, Stedman Graham, realized he had only packed one shoe.

Graham wears a size 15 shoe, and apparently could not find a pair on such short notice.

Winfrey revealed to the crowd during her speech that Graham roamed the bar at the Ritz-Carlton Saturday night, asking strangers their shoe size.

As the desperation grew, Winfrey decided to call her friend, Cam Newton.

The Panthers' star quarterback answered the phone and was able to provide a pair of his size 14 shoes.

"[He] managed to get his heel in Cam’s shoe," Winfrey told the crowd. "So he is standing in Cam Newton’s shoes this morning."

Newton apparently has plenty of shoes to spare.

According to ESPN, Belk executive John Thomas said last season that Newton has more than 140 pairs of shoes in his uptown Charlotte home -- many of which make headlines during post-game press conferences.
