CHARLOTTE, N.C. — You won't see quarterback Cam Newton back on the field Sunday, but he is going with the Panthers to San Francisco as they face the 49ers.
This is the next step in Newton's rehab since suffering the Lisfranc injury and returning to practice this week, so things seem to be progressing as expected.
With the trade deadline coming up on Tuesday, Adam Schefter made a little noise Thursday on ESPN's "Get Up," saying it might make sense to trade Newton.
He suggested not now, but in the offseason.
