NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Panthers offensive tackle Michael Oher is scheduled to appear in court June 6 to answer misdemeanor assault charges stemming from an altercation with an Uber driver last month.

Oher turned himself in to police in Nashville, Tennessee after he was accused of assaulting an Uber driver last month.

Channel 9 was sent his booking photo Tuesday morning. Oher turned himself in at 7:30 a.m. He was ordered to appear for booking Monday, but he didn’t show up. Officials said he has a one-week grace period.

Channel 9 was the first to break the story last week that Oher, a high-profile player whose life was the subject of the movie "The Blind Side," was cited for the alleged assault.

An Uber driver claimed that on April 14 the two got into an argument during a ride to downtown Nashville.

Oher instructed the driver to follow another car to a downtown restaurant, the police report said. When the driver took the lead instead, Oher accused him of trying to run up his bill.

The report said that when the driver got out of the car, Oher also got out of the car.

The driver put his hand in Oher's face before Oher knocked him to the ground and kicked him, the police report said.

Oher is expected in court on June 6.

Oher has been with the Panthers since 2015. He has been placed on concussion protocol since the end of September 2016. He missed the last 13 games of the 2016 season.
