CHARLOTTE — Lockers were getting cleaned out and many offices were locked Monday as the Carolina Panthers headed home for the end of the season after Sunday’s win in Atlanta.
Channel 9 sports director Phil Orban spoke with players, including quarterback Bryce Young, on Monday about a promising future and a quiet offseason.
For the first time in a long time, there are more answers than questions for this organization heading into the offseason. The general manager will return. The head coach will return and perhaps most importantly, the franchise’s quarterback is in place.
“Only going to be up from here,” said running back Chubba Hubbard bout Young. “Everything he’s been through -- All the adversity. God is good is all I can say and Bryce has worked hard and he deserves it all so this is just the tip of the iceberg for us.”
Young and his teammates were already talking about the 2025 season not long after his five-touchdown performance featuring the viral no-look TD celebration that punctuated an overtime win over a division opponent on the road.
“We feel like there’s so much to get better at and so much to improve on but we believe in each other,” Bryce said. “We know what we’re capable of now. We have to do the work to make that our standard.”
There is a rare year-to-year stability at the top of the organization with general manager Dan Morgan and head coach Dave Canales both in place, which helps the Panthers continue to build on the foundation in place.
“It’s hard when you can’t get a footing on what the vibe is,” said tight end Tommy Tremble. “How the building is going to be and finally having that. It’s great because you can just take a deep breath and just be like, I’m excited i think that’s the No. 1 thing that a lot of guys are just excited for next year.”
This doesn’t mean there won’t be change. There are 21 unrestricted free agents on the roster but several who Orban spoke with want to return to be a part of what will come in Carolina at Bank of America Stadium.
