CHARLOTTE — Alexander Michael’s owner, Steve Casner, is taking a leap of faith.
The longtime tavern and restaurant in Charlotte’s Fourth Ward flipped on the “open” sign Sept. 25 — almost six months to the day that Covid-19 shuttered operations.
“We just think it was time to give it a shot and see how it goes,” says Casner. “My thought was to reopen — and only do it once.”
The goal is to start slow with take-out orders, gain traction and build momentum, Casner says. He expects to welcome diners back to that 1,800-square-foot establishment at 401 W. 9th St. in the upcoming weeks.
He talked with CBJ’s Jennifer Thomas about what lies ahead for this Charlotte institution.
