FORT MILL, S.C. — Authorities are investigating after a security guard was killed at the Stanley Black and Decker distribution center in Fort Mill Thursday night.

Officials are calling the death a tragic workplace accident.

The York County coroner told Channel 9 that 69-year-old Patricia Taylor was killed at the plant on Pleasant Road. The circumstance surrounding her death are still unclear.

The coroner said Taylor was involved in a pedestrian versus vehicle incident on the property and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a statement released by Stanley Black and Decker, “a security contractor was killed in what appears to be a tragic accident involving an independent trucking company at the parking lot entrance to our Fort Mill facility. Our thoughts and prayers are with the contractor’s family, friends and associates. We are fully cooperating with the local police department investigation into the matter.”

OSHA has been contacted, and the Highway Patrol along with the York County Coroner’s Officer are investigating.
