CHARLOTTE — The driver of a car that caused a deadly crash on I-85 near Brookshire Boulevard on Saturday morning has been arrested, North Carolina State Highway Patrol released.
According to NCSHP, Langston Demacy Collins, age 21, was recklessly driving a blue Kia on I-85 northbound when he hit a Harley Davidson motorcycle around 2:30 a.m.
The driver of the motorcycle, Bryce Lemont Gause of Charlotte, was ejected and died at the scene.
The car and the motorcycle hit the median before stopping on the left shoulder of the highway.
Collins, age 21, was arrested for the following charges:
- Driving while under the influence
- Felony death by motor vehicle
- Reckless driving
The accident closed the northbound lanes from Glenwood Drive to Brookshire Boulevard until 5:30 a.m.

Collins was transported to the Mecklenburg County Jail, and no injuries were reported for him.
