CHARLOTTE — A crash on Interstate 85 northbound at US 321 near Gastonia shut down two lanes of traffic for several hours early Thursday morning, sending one person to the hospital with possible life-threatening injuries.
The accident happened just after 4 a.m. when a car ran up underneath a work truck near exit 17.

Channel 9 crews were at the scene as officials worked to clean up debris scattered along the road and remove the cars from the interstate.
The lanes are expected to open by 9:00 a.m. but congestion remains.
Gastonia police is investigating the crash.
