CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating the death of a person who was found shot at a southwest Charlotte gas station.

The incident occurred Tuesday morning at the Circle K on South Tryon Street near Ayrsley Town Boulevard.

Police said 22-year-old Apree Dontell Leak was taken from the scene to an area hospital, where he later died.

Channel 9 crews observed several patrol cars in the parking lot of the gas station but did not see any crime scene tape.

CMPD said they believe Leak was shot at a separate location before arriving at the gas station.
