CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A woman was found shot to death inside a car Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of East W.T. Harris Boulevard and North Tryon Street, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

Officials said the woman, 29-year-old Chirrelle Scott, was in the driver’s seat.

She died at the scene.

The shooting happened at about 5:15 p.m. and police had East W.T. Harris Boulevard shut down for about four hours during the investigation.

"University City Division officers responded to several 911 calls regarding shots fired into a vehicle," Capt. Brian Foley said.

Witnesses told police a silver or light gray Nissan Sentra fled the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.

Scott's father told reporter Tina Terry that she was a good girl and likely headed home from work when the shooting happened.

"She was my oldest daughter,” he said. “She enjoyed her life, she enjoyed her music, she could sing, she was real talented. She was being herself."

Scott was single and had no children, her father said.

"She was right here at the house with us. She wasn't out on her own. It wasn't like she'd bring a lot of trouble here,” Michael Scott said. “If she did, we'd know it.”

The father wants justice for his daughter.

"If you’ve seen somebody, a car, got tags, now somebody, let authorities know,” he said.
