Man dead after shooting in west Charlotte; arrest made, police say

CHARLOTTE — A man is dead and another is behind bars after a shooting in west Charlotte early Sunday, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Officers said they responded to Queen City Drive, near Sloan Drive and the Billy Graham Parkway, before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday for a call of a person shot.

Police said they found Christopher McGill, 35, shot at the scene. He was taken by MEDIC to the hospital, where police said he later died.

CMPD said shortly after detectives started investigating, they arrested Dequayvious Young, 27, and charged him with murder. He was taken to the Mecklenburg County jail, police said.

No additional information was released.
