CHARLOTTE — A 58-year-old man was killed Monday evening in a shooting in west Charlotte, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said.
Officers said they were called around 7:15 p.m. to Avalon Avenue near Tuckaseegee Road for reports of an assault with a deadly weapon.
Gerald McCombs was shot and taken to a hospital where he died, police said.

During the initial investigation, police said they contacted a person of interest who is being interviewed. Authorities said they are not looking for any additional suspects at this time.
