MONROE, N.C. — Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a fire that killed someone at a Monroe business Tuesday morning.
Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over the scene at ELG UTICA Alloys of Monroe, on North Secrest Avenue and could see dozens of emergency personnel around the building.
Authorities were called to the business, which is in a very industrial area, shortly before 9:30 a.m.
The first firefighters to arrive reported heavy flames and smoke coming from the building.
There were 35 people working in the building when the flames broke out and investigators said they found one person inside who did not survive.
On Thursday, officials identified him as Scott Tyson.
Monroe police, the fire department, the fire marshal and the ATF are investigating the fire.
