CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — One person was killed in a car crash in Chesterfield County on Saturday night, the South Carolina State Highway Patrol said.
According to a release from the state highway patrol, the accident happened on Highway 52, six miles south of Cheraw, around 10:10 p.m. Two vehicles were involved in the accident: one was a 2000 Honda SUV, and the other was a 2013 GMC pickup truck.

Troopers say the GMC truck was traveling south and hit the Honda SUV that was traveling north after crossing the center line. The Honda then traveled off the right side of the road and overturned; the GMC traveled off the left side of the road, hit a tree, and then overturned.
Officials say there were two passengers in the Honda SUV; the driver was killed in the accident, the passenger was taken to a local hospital by emergency medical services. There were three passengers in the GMC truck; the driver was injured and taken to a local hospital, and one passenger took themselves to the hospital.
State Highway Patrol officials said the accident is still under investigation.
