‘Like a movie’
Channel 9′s Hannah Goetz spoke to neighbors on Tuesday who said nothing like this has happened while they lived there.
After police cars lined the neighborhood late Monday night, broken glass covered the road Tuesday morning.
One neighbor said they heard dozens of shots, and then a young man ran up to his car asking for help.
“I stopped in my car, and somebody came walking, he told me, ‘Hey, hey, help me, help me,’” the neighbor told Goetz. “’What happened?’ ‘I got shot in my leg ... please help me, give me a ride to the hospital,’” the neighbor recalled.
According to a police report, homes and cars were also reported to be hit by the gunfire. A total of 17 other people were listed as victims -- half of them were kids.
“Does that scare you living in this neighborhood?” Goetz asked one neighbor.
“Oh yeah, that’s too much, too much. Like a movie,” the neighbor said.
On Tuesday, Goetz did see police patrolling the neighborhood on bikes, and parents said they were very happy to see a police presence.
It is still unclear what led up to this shooting.
