Arrest made in deadly east Charlotte shooting; another suspect wanted

CHARLOTTE — A man is in custody after Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers found another man dead in east Charlotte Thursday morning. Now, police are looking for another suspect in the case.

The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Eastcrest Drive near Central Avenue. Officers were called to the area for a welfare check, where they found 25-year-old Khyre’ Jamaal Grier.

Grier, who had been shot, died at the scene, authorities said.

It is unclear what led up to this shooting.

CMPD said on Thursday, they arrested Fabio Herminio Funes, 49. He was charged with murder at the end of an interview with detectives.

On Friday, detectives asked for help finding a second suspect, identified as Ramon Alexi Santos Funes.
