CHARLOTTE — A man is dead after a shooting at an apartment complex in southeast Charlotte, according to CMPD.
CMPD told reporter Anthony Kustura that the 911 assault with a deadly weapon call came in just before 4 a.m. on Cross Point Circle off of Independence Boulevard.
Police arrived to find a man with a gunshot wound. MEDIC pronounced him dead at the scene.
The victim was identified as 39-year-old Martin Yesid Isaza-Duran.
Detectives are collecting evidence, taking photos, and talking with neighbors about what they heard and saw.
Neighbors told Channel 9 they heard two gunshots, causing them to call 911.
“When I got to where the screaming was, there was a lady standing out there over her dead boyfriend’s body,” neighbors said.
Police said they don’t have a suspect, but they do not believe the act was random and there is no threat to the public.
“There’s no threat. There’s no indication that this is anything other than a direct assault. We don’t believe this was a random act of violence,” Major Brian Foley said.

Detectives are collecting evidence, taking photos, and talking with neighbors about what they heard and saw.
Police said they have expanded the crime scene several times to search for clues that could lead them to a motive.
They said they hope surveillance video captured the shooting.
However, neighbor Greg Murdoch said in the 11 years that he has lived at the apartment complex, it has never had cameras.
“At that time of the morning most people are asleep and we don’t have a security service here,” Murdoch said.
