LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — One person has died after a crash on Highway 73 on Saturday morning, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Troopers responded to the crash around 8:30 a.m. near Ingleside Farm Road.
The investigation showed a freightliner truck was traveling west on Highway 73 when it crossed the centerline and crashed head-on into a Ford van traveling eastbound.
The driver of the truck and two passengers were hurt and transported to Atrium Health CMC.

One of the passengers, Stephanie Michelle Painter, 39, of Cherryville, was seriously hurt in the accident and died on Sunday.
The driver of the van was also seriously hurt and was transported to Atrium Health CMC as well
Highway 73 was closed in the area for around three hours during the investigation.
Charges have not been filed and are pending the completion of the investigation and consultation with the Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office.
