SANFORD, N.C. — The country’s best new restaurants are in places like New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago — and the small town of Sanford in eastern North Carolina.

That’s according to food publication Eater, which named Fonda Lupita at 129 W. Main St. in Sanford named one of the of 11 best new restaurants in the U.S. Sanford, with its population of 30,000, is by far the smallest city represented on the list. The second-smallest city on the list is Miami, which has a population of over 450,000.
