OMB works with owners of Zack’s Hamburgers to revive a longtime local staple

CHARLOTTE — Jim Birch, chief operating officer of OMB, said they have partnered with Zack’s Hamburgers owners George and Elaine Demopoulos to license and serve The Zack’s Special at the brewery’s biergarten on Yancey Road. Zack’s original location at 4009 South Blvd. closed in July 2021 after 46 years in business.

OMB started serving the burger on March 1 as a permanent menu item. It will be available to order Monday through Friday, as an homage to the former restaurant’s hours.

Birch said it was important for the Demopouloses and the OMB team to make the burger look and taste like the original.
