Ohio teens test positive for COVID-19 after group trip to Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Four more students and one adult have tested positive for COVID-19 after taking a trip to Myrtle Beach, officials said.

A total of 20 cases Belmont County, Ohio are now linked to Myrtle Beach, ABC affiliate WPDE reported.

The students said they returned from the trip June 14 and showed symptoms about five days later, according to a report.

Experts say a beach trip is low risk if people follow basic precautions, including wearing masks when in public places and handwashing.

Tripadvisor reports 50% of travelers want to book a one-to-five-day trip this month.

Meanwhile, there are outbreaks in six West Virginia counties also tied to trips to Myrtle Beach.
