CHESTER, S.C. — Fire department officials said two people were killed in a house fire early Sunday morning in Chester.
Crews said the fire started around 3 a.m. at a home on Ashford Street off Ella Street and that two adults died in the fire.
Crews said the entire home was engulfed in flames when they arrived.
Investigators said 61-year-olds Carla Owens and James Williams died in the fire. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday to help determine the cause of death.
SLED and the state fire marshal are investigating.
