IREDELL CO. — Detectives with the Iredell County Sheriff's office are investigating after they said a 4-year-old boy drowned in a pool at his home in Mooresville.
Deputies and medic were called to the house on Irish Road Saturday afternoon.
Investigators said an adult called 911 after finding the boy unresponsive in the in-ground pool in the backyard of the home.
CPR was performed on the child until medics arrived, said officials.
The boy was then rushed to Lake Norman Regional Medical Center where officials said he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Investigators would not reveal the circumstances leading up to the drowning but said the child somehow slipped into the pool.
Investigators said no charges would likely be filed in the case and called it a tragic accident.
