MCCORMICK, S.C. — State inmates locked a guard into a cell Sunday night, but none of the prisoners escaped, South Carolina prison officials said.
Five inmates were caught near an interior prison yard fence at McCormick Correctional Institution Sunday evening, the South Carolina Department of Corrections said on Twitter.
There are no physical injuries to staff. 2 inmates were taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The department said that no one escaped, adding that no staff suffered injuries and two inmates were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No further details about the injuries were available.
McCormick County Sheriff Clarke Stearns told local news outlets that a perimeter was set up in the area, but officers saw no activity outside the prison, Stearns added.
The prison is about 80 miles west of Columbia. The high-security institution houses more than 800 people.
The prison’s police department and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division are investigating.
