CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Mecklenburg County Health Department is investigating another case of hepatitis A. The department believes this case is unrelated to the most recent outbreak from a west Charlotte Hardee's.
Initial reports indicate the person is not connected to the food service industry.

Public Health said they will release a statement if the investigation concludes the person is a public health risk.
This comes after the health department concluded an investigation into a hepatitis A outbreak from a local Hardee's.
The health department said over 4,000 people were potentially exposed to hepatitis A after a restaurant worker at a west Charlotte Hardee's possibly exposed them to the virus.
After two weeks of clinics, the department said they vaccinated 2,056 people.
The department said they are launching a marketing / partnering campaign to target priority populations. This is to help bring awareness and education materials for distribution to at-risk people.
Partners include Ballantyne Family Medicine, The Powerhouse Project, Charlotte Rescue Mission, and Mecklenburg County Jail.
In addition, several community clinics have been supplied with the hepatitis A vaccination to help prevent further outbreaks. These clinics include CW Williams, Charlotte Community Health Clinic, and Eastowne Family Medicine.
