Officials: Man on motorcycle killed in wreck on I-77

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Medic officials said one person was killed in a wreck Friday.

The crash happened on Interstate 77 southbound near Sunset Road.

Troopers said that according to witnesses, a man on a motorcycle was traveling in excess of 100 mph on I-77. The rider hit the back of another vehicle and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers said the rider hit a car driven by Tamara Price at Cleveland.

All lanes were closed on I-77 southbound at mile marker 17, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation. NCDOT said the lanes reopened around 9 p.m.
