Suspect wanted after officer shot in Chesterfield County, SLED says

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is searching for a man wanted in connection with the shooting of a McBee police officer late Thursday night.

The incident occurred during a traffic stop on 11th Street near McBee High School in Chesterfield County.

SLED said the officer was taken to an area hospital for treatment, but his condition is unknown at this time.

The organization will be taking over the investigation into this incident at the request of the McBee Police Department.

Friday morning, SLED announced that 27-year-old Alston Modlin was wanted in connection with this case.

Modlin may be driving a 2013 Toyota Tacoma with an SC license plate KRF577. The vehicle has a LEER sticker on the back window and was last seen traveling in Florence, South Carolina, according to SLED.

Modlin is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him or have any information regarding his whereabouts, you are encouraged to call 911.

Channel 9 has crews on the scene and is continuing to gather information about this incident.
