YORK, S.C. — Authorities are investigating a homicide after a police officer found a man dead inside a York home Sunday evening.
Just after 8:30 p.m. an officer was sent to a house along Lowry Row, off W. Liberty Street, to conduct a well-being check after someone called police saying they could not get in touch with the homeowner all day and that that was unusual.
When the officer got to the home, they noticed the front door was slightly ajar, according to a news release. The officer pushed the door open and spotted 35-year-old Thomas Hardin lying on the floor.
Officials said Hardin was not breathing and had no pulse. The officer performed CPR but paramedics arrived a short time later and pronounced him dead.
Police said “due to the suspicious nature of this incident” the case is under investigation as a homicide.
Autopsy and toxicology results are pending, according to the coroner.
No other information has been released.
