LENOIR, N.C. — Daniel Clark is thankful that he, his wife, their 5-year-old son, are alive a fire spread through their home.

They were asleep inside their home in Lenoir Thursday night when they woke to the sound of law enforcement banging on their door and windows telling them to get out.
“I woke up to our house on fire,” Clark said. “By the time we got out to the road and looked back at the house, there was flames coming out of the attic.”
