Novant Health named sponsor for Jumpman Invitational in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE — The presenting sponsor for a major college basketball tournament has just been named.

The Charlotte Sports Foundation and ESPN Events announced Novant Health will be the presenting sponsor for the Jumpman Invitational. The tournament will be held at the Spectrum Center later this year. It includes both men’s and women’s college teams that are partnered with the Jordan brand.

Participating schools include the University of Florida, University of Michigan, University of Oklahoma, and University of North Carolina.

The executive vice president for Novant Health -- and North Carolina alum -- explained the magnitude of the new partnership.

“This is going to be a global event,” Jesse Cureton said. “This is going to be covered by ESPN. So we have an opportunity to partner with two great brands and the impact on Charlotte with be huge.”

Lowes and Truist were named associate sponsors.

The inaugural event will take place Dec. 21 and 22 of 2022.
