Brandon J. Flowers was charged with three counts of a sex act with a student and three counts of indecent liberties with a student.

A source told Channel 9 that the relationship between Flowers and a female student went on for a couple of months. That source also said that the teen is a senior and was not in Flowers' classes.

The investigation started after students and parents overheard the relationship being discussed and reported it to the school.

The school's principal sent parents an email saying leaders will assist law enforcement in any way necessary during the investigation.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools officials said Flowers was hired as a marketing teacher in August 2015. He is suspended with pay.
