CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The owner of a north Charlotte motel where a clerk was shot during an armed robbery in July is offering a $15,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the shooter.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers are hoping that the incentive and a more detailed description of the man's car will prompt someone to come forward.
Channel 9 reported in July that a man robbed the Rodeway Inn on West Sugarcreek Road and the Drury Hotel 40 minutes later.
Police said the man shot a clerk during the Drury robbery. The 24-year-old woman survived, but investigators said her emotional scars remain.
“She is healing and she's improving daily. What would be a huge improvement for her is if this individual is no longer walking the streets," CMPD Capt. Todd Garrett said.
Crime Stoppers will offer $1,000 and the Drury Hotel will offer $15,000 for information leading to the man's arrest.
CMPD released new information about the man’s four-door Nissan Versa.
Officials said the car appears to be black and was manufactured between 2013 and 2015. The license plate is located on the hatch and not the bumper. The rear driver’s side rim might be different from the front driver’s side rim. The rim appears to be a five-star style rim.
Police said the suspect is a black man believed to be in his late 20s. He stands between 5 feet, 10 inches and 6 feet and has shoulder-length dreadlocks.
“We hope this reward will help bring closure to this random act of violence against one of our team members. The safety and security of our guests and employees is our top priority. Our goal is to assist the Charlotte Police Department in apprehending the person responsible for this crime before they hurt anyone else in the community,” Chuck Drury, president and CEO of Drury Hotels, said.
