CHARLOTTE — A Charlotte nonprofit is celebrating five years of helping students get into college, pay for it, and succeed while there.
The Carolina Youth Coalition has already changed hundreds of lives, leveraging its sports and corporate connections, while providing students with resources including writing courses and standardized test prep.
“We are building confidence in students,” said Aaron Randolph, the co-founder and executive director of the organization.

“We started out later that year (2018) with 40 high school students in our program,” Randolph said. “The oldest of which will be graduating college this year.”
The CYC currently has at least 200 students, five times the original class.
Since 2018, the organization has also helped students earn more than $45 million in scholarships and grants, with its college fellows attending 39 institutions in 17 states.
