CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police said nobody was hurt after dozens of shots were fired outside a north Charlotte bar overnight.

The shooting happened as the 360 Lounge was closing around 2 a.m. on Smith Corners Boulevard near Statesville Road.

The manager of the bar locked himself in a bathroom while he dialed 911, police said.

Detectives said someone sprayed bullets in the parking lot. Nobody was hit but at least one round went through the window of a truck.

The bar is in a plaza across from Interstate 77, close to the Northlake Mall.

"They may just get too many people. Crowd gets too crazy. Drinking is involved,” said Madison Wagner, who had just left work before the shooting.

On its website, the lounge advertises parties that last until closing time, which is 2 a.m.

Channel 9 watched as investigators placed dozens of evidence markers next to bullet shell casings scattered on the ground.

Nearby business owner Mark Love said this is the second shooting in two years in the quiet shopping center.

In 2016, he said a shooting outside the club sent dozens of bullets into his business. A bullet hole remains in the wall of his business.

"This is not the first time,” Love said. “It’s unfortunate and unacceptable."

Police have not released any suspect information.

After the previous shooting, Love put signs up in the parking lot warning clubgoers about video surveillance.

"There's not enough security, lighting, presence to have this kind of activity there,” Love said. "We can’t have this type of activity. We can't take these chances.”

"I’m sure eventually if it keeps happening someone's going to get hurt,” Wagner said.
