Police identify man shot to death in north Charlotte; no arrests made

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are trying to solve a homicide after someone shot and killed a man late Monday night in north Charlotte.

The shooting happened just before 11:45 p.m. on Trinity Road, which is off Beatties Ford Road.

Officers were called to the area for reports of a shooting and when they arrived they found 34-year-old Channing Byers who had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not said if they have any suspects or what may have led to the shooting.

Byers’s death comes hours after two people were shot on Tuckaseegee Road. One of the victims died at the scene and the other was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

The violence also comes just over a week after four people were killed and several others were hurt in a deadly shooting on Beatties Ford Road. Police are still searching for suspects and a motive after more than 180 rounds were fired into a crowd during a block party.

No other information has been released.
