UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies are looking for three suspects after they said a man was shot and robbed while working on a four-wheeler outside a Union County home Tuesday night.
Deputies responded to Macedonia Church Road just after 10 p.m. after getting reports of gunshots at a home in the area.
When they got there, deputies found a man outside the house who had been shot several times. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK, officials said.
During the investigation, deputies learned three armed men wearing masks and hoodies walked up to the house and saw the victim, who was outside working on a four-wheeler which he was getting ready to sell.
Detectives said at least one of the suspects fired several rounds, hitting the victim.

After the shooting, the suspects stole the man’s cellphone and forced his wife to hand over cash and other valuable items. Then, the three men ran off.
The sheriff’s office said a K-9 unit from the Monroe Police Department responded and found a possible track leading to W.G. Medlin Road, where deputies believe a car may have been waiting for the trio.
The victim’s wife was not injured during the robbery.
On Wednesday, Channel 9 reporter Tina Terry spoke with people who live along the road who said they want those responsible off the streets.
Sherry Keziah said she was stunned to learn about the bold crime that has her neighbor in the hospital with serious injuries.
“My friend messaged me and said, ‘Did you know you had a shooting on your road last night?’ I said, ‘No.’ For somebody to actually get shot -- that’s scary. Very scary,” she said.
“I hope he’s gonna be alright,” Keziah told Channel 9. “I know it’s gonna take some time to get over. I’m just glad they didn’t do anything to his wife.”
Deputies said the victim had spoken to several strangers about purchasing the four-wheeler, but there was no word on if any of them are connected to the crime.
If you have any information about this case, deputies said to call Crimestoppers at 704-283-5600 or the Union County Sheriff’s Office at 704-283-3789.
