CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department identified Derreck McDonald as an offender in a homicide last October in east Charlotte.
McDonald was killed on Dec. 12 before police were able to charge him with murder. Police said probable cause was established in the homicide of Zuri Norman after McDonald’s death.
It happened in October at 11:30 p.m. near Winged Elm Court, which is off Reddman Road and south of Albemarle Road.
CMPD is conducting a homicide investigation near the 6200 block of Winged Elm Court. One person has been pronounced deceased.

When officers got to the area, they found 26-year-old Zuri Arcedrian Norman with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
