CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Panthers Safety Eric Reid said he believes the National Football League is unfairly and excessively drug testing him.

Now, the Players' Union wants a report on the claim.

Our news partners at the Independent Tribune report the NFL and the Players Association have asked for a report from the administrator of the drug testing program to look into how many times Reid has been tested this season.

Reid took to Twitter last week to say he had been summoned for his seventh test.

The tests are completely random and every player in the league must take them.

Sources with the drug testing company deny targeting Reid in their testing.

Reid signed with the Panthers this season. He went unsigned as a free-agent during the off-season.

Some say he was not signed because he chose to kneel during the National Anthem, alongside former teammate Colin Kaepernick.

Reid has, in the past, filed a grievance against the NFL accusing it of trying to keep him out of the league.
