MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Myrtle Beach leaders want tourists to know that they are safe when they head to the city for their vacation getaways.
The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber launched a new website “Keeping Myrtle Beach Safe,” after a shooting in June on Ocean Boulevard was streamed live on Facebook.

Two Iredell County men were in a parking lot when a fight broke out and shots were fired. Moments later, the two were ordered out of their car at gunpoint.

The website highlights efforts that law enforcement is making to keep the area safe.

“While our message is typically, ‘We welcome you and we want you here,’ we now know that we have to add to that that we take your safety seriously and we intend to remain a safe community,” Myrtle Beach Area Chamber CEO Brad Dean said.
The website will be funded through sponsorships.
