CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Channel 9 is getting a better look at a plan to build a high speed rail from Atlanta to Charlotte.
Atlanta city leaders discussed the idea Tuesday night.
They are considering six possible routes.
Two of the possibilities would take the rail through Gastonia. Another would go through the Bowling Green area or what planners are calling South Gastonia.
Three possible routes would go through Rock Hill. Each route would stop in different cities before getting to the Charlotte area.
Athens, Greenville, Augusta and Columbia are some of the options.
The line would be an extension of a rail already under development.
The first leg is from Charlotte to Washington.
A public hearing will be held at the Transportation Department Office on Statesville Avenue from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday.
